24th convocation day of Sindhi college was held on 22nd December 2018 at the college premises. Nearly 400 students, passed out in the year 2017, received their degrees. The grand celebration started at 10am with a procession of the delegates and it was followed by the prayer song and the lamp lightening ceremony.
The Chairman, Shri. Nandalal Pokardas gave the presidential address in which he spoke about the importance of Education. He said that Education is our best friend, for it will never depart us. He then warned the graduates that Life is not full of roses and they must be prepared to face challenges. He added not to give up at any circumstances. He concluded his speech with a quote, "Every great dreams start with the dreamer", that they must dream big.
Then the Secretary, Shri. JC Prakash introduced the chief guest Prof. Wilfred Chellaiya, Professor of English, Madras Christian College, Chennai. He briefed about his achievements and the positions he held.
Then the Chief Guest of the day gave a motivational speech. He started his speech stating that this day would both be the day of fulfilment and the day of uncertainty for the graduates as they are proud to receive their convocation and also uncertain of the position they are to hold in the future. He then said that he envy the graduates of today as they live in a world full of options. He further said that the world is both wide and wild and that they have to stay focused and discern the need to attain success.
He then insisted the students to always remember the three words Life style, Livelihood and Life skills and wanted them to relate these three words to their life. He said that Life styles are their qualities, traits, and habits and those must be distinctive. He, then, urged the graduates develop their skills to earn Livelihood. He wanted them to focus on life skills as they are too important to impress and inspire others. He finally wanted the graduates to evaluate themselves with their, Conceptual skill, Technical skills and Interpersonal skills.
Then the Principal Dr. Sathya narayana called upon the heads of various departments to present their students to receive degrees. The Chief Guest conferred degree upon the graduates. Then the graduates were asked to take an oath administered by the Principal.
The vice chairman Shri. Rajalal Nichani, in his felicitation address congratulated the graduates and urged them to have an ambition and work towards it.
Finally the celebration came to an end with the vote of thanks by the treasurer, Shri. OM prakash. He thanked the Chairman, Secretary, Principal, teaching and non-teaching faculty for their unfailing support.
